OC: Elock by ThirdPersonSymphony OC: Elock by ThirdPersonSymphony
I've pretty much updated his looks from the previous drawings I've done. His hair was giving me a hard time, but now I'm satisfied with it :XD: Just like Shafara (Cheers!), this is his unofficial official clothing design.

This was going to be an introduction drawing to him... but then better ideas happened so you guys are gonna have this random drawing for now.

On another note:
1) Top-down perspective is pretty darn hard
2) I always have problems with his skin color. He's supposed to have a sort of Mediterranean tan to him, but I can't ever get that right. If any of you can give me tips and advice, I'd love it X.x

I'm so happy you love this OC :iconcraiplz: He's actually my oldest, next to another OC of mine (who is female)!

Thanks so much for the compliment! For my art AND my characters! Even if it's a small, it gives me more motivation to keep going! :D I know I've got a really long way to go, but yes, I'm definitely proud of my achievements so far.

Unfortunately, I only do art trades with close friends and when I have the time for them :( I really appreciate the offer, though! I'm happy you like my style enough to ask!

You are very welcome! I understand what it's like to have chacters who are very dear to you ^_^ I too have my own stories and characters I treasure dearly. Its no problem regarding the art trade question, I am usually the same way!

Take care!

I'd like to say written up. That doesn't mean I won't be throwing little comics here and there in the future. The characters are faaaar more developed than the plot and world, so for now, I'm just drawing them up and experimenting until I can cook up the story.

It's jumbled up in my head, but I know it's in there! >.<

The funny thing about that. My ocs had a plot and a story set-up and ready to go. I had started the novel and it was well under way. However, it came to a standstill and the whole story flopped.

That was years ago, though. I picked my characters back up not too long ago and chopped away that old story. This is basically reconstruction ^.^

Oh snap :noes:

Good thing you found your way, though! I sometimes want to grab my ocs and throw random scenes at them for them to react to. It seems easier to do a bunch of those than to create a straight, solid storyline .-.

I've thought about doing a series of short stories because of that... but I don't feel that's enough ;o;

The perspective was definitely tricky and I'm really glad you liked it!

It took me a while to figure out how to approach his clothing. I guess the hardest part was arranging and placing armor and weapons. I'm still iffy about sword placement, since the biggest issue I have is efficiency vs looks. Since he's naturally agile, he should be able to draw out swords or daggers as quickly as possible, you know, just in case anything goes wrong ;)

Thank you for taking the time to comment and fave! Much appreciated!

To me, the weapon placement looks fine, but I'm not an expert when it comes to weapons ^^

Thank you very much!

I'm glad you liked his hair.. I was having a pretty difficult time trying to design it for the fact that, in my head, he started out with a pretty modern cut that made absolutely no sense for the time period (thank goodness I never uploaded those awful early drafts!). So, I decided to go with a hairstyle that seemed to HAVE style, but would also look like natural growth... I don't know if that made much sense, but that's how I went about it :XD:

I totally understand! Hairstyle design is difficult for me, because on the one hand, I want to make something original, and on the other - something that make sense xD

Oh yeah! For what it's worth, I make (or try to make) little details on their hairs or overall designs to add some sort of originality. I like subtle things that people can pick up on on their own, you know? Still, hair is awesome to draw! ...Well, most of the time :XD:

I'm so glad you think that, since I kind of had a real hard time with the angle. I had to erase like a million times before getting it right! :faint:

I never thought about a Han Solo vibe.. but I'm definitely taking that as a compliment! :giggle: Thank you so much for the comment! :aww:

Haha! Don't mention it. :)

Yeah, angles can be a bit tricky. A good way to do it is by blocking the object/character. Each parallel side of a box meets at some point in your eye level.

I don't know. That's what I've learned in my perspective class. haha

I think that's really helpful advice.. I've never really used boxed before... :ponder:  I'll definitely look that up one of these days. Yes, I've HEARD about the method, but I've never really been introduced to it. It was all up in the air for me until now. :XD:

Haha. Yeah. Or you can also use yourself as a model (because you're the only one who's available 24/7. haha). I always do so when I draw difficult things, like HAAAAANDDSS. :stare:

Yeah! I pretty much use myself all the time! I tend to use references with poses or angles that are new and hard. I'm stubborn and a lot of the time my drawings aren't based on any references except my brain and body. However, I always make up for it with my gesture drawings and studies :XD:
